“To observe and express beauty, free of vanity, while fully aware of the passage of time.”
Mackenzie Duncan’s art reflects the wonder and tragedy that resides in all that we perceive to be ‘beautiful’, documenting our impossible struggle to cling inflexibly to the ephemeral.
His intuitive vision of current-day iconography, combined with a fascination for how technology facilitates and complements the creative process, culminates in an observed environment where the rigidity of functional design influences, and is influenced by, the organicness of human nature.
His visual meditations on the passage of time, and its impact on the human experience, are imbued with a dream-like aura, at once evoking the ache and elation of innocence, while simultaneously mindful of life’s illusory and temporal nature. It’s a complex intertwining of the detached and sentimental, executed with humility and precision.
Mackenzie’s mission is to curate and create beautiful artefacts as an act of service, which will ultimately impact his audience’s way of being in the world.
